About Lane 6
My name is Alex Work, and I am a personal trainer and personal performance consultant based out of beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia.
Why do you have this blog?
I believe that a huge part of success in life lies in the way that we take care of our bodies. I have a huge passion for fitness and healthy living.
I got hooked on the healthy living bug through competitive swimming. I was your classic water bug as a kid, with energy for days. A great outlet turned out to be competitive swimming, something that I did at the highest levels in Canada. I retired at the age of 24 after years of nagging shoulder injuries, but the passion for the sport and the love of fitness is something that has never left me.
I believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to do something special with their lives. Ultimately, it’s up to you to set your own fitness goals and chase after them. This blog was created to help as many people realize their own dreams, whether it’s going to the Olympics or simply losing five pounds.
What do you like to do for fun?
I am a very active person. Since I’m living on the West Coast, I enjoy hitting the surf in the summer, and the mountains in the winter. Between those two, you can find me in the lap pool swimming some easy laps, in the gym, or running the local trails.
What is Lane 6 Fitness All About?
I created this blog to bring fitness and health tips, techniques and tools to the world. You will be able to find all sorts of ideas and things you can try in your journey to physical health.
Why should I listen to you?
I believe everyone should do their research on all fitness advice they receive. It’s natural to skeptical when someone tells you that they are going to be able to change your life with advice or a book.
It’s a sad reality that there are lots of websites out there that have false information and tons of unrealized hype around their advice and products. Any advice I give on this blog is based completely in my own personal experience. I have used many of these tips and techniques myself over a period of nearly twenty years, first in my swimming and then in my career.
What to do next?
If you are interested in improving your fitness, no matter where you stand today, take a look around. There are lots of articles and ideas in here to get your started.
